Connect & configure

Pair your music service, set defaults once, and tune Run mode to how you teach. Four things you'll touch once.

1

Connect Apple Music

First-launch authorisation with Apple Music via MusicKit. Cuesheet currently supports Apple Music only.

  1. 01 On first launch, the app asks to connect Apple Music.
  2. 02 Tap "Connect Apple Music". iOS shows the system MusicKit authorization prompt.
  3. 03 Tap Allow. The Apple Music user token is stored in the iOS Keychain — Cuesheet never sees raw credentials.
  4. 04 The authorization persists across app restarts. You can revoke it any time via iOS Settings → Privacy → Media & Apple Music.
2

Apple Music subscription

An active Apple Music subscription is required to search the catalog and play tracks during Run mode. Authoring a cuesheet works without one.

  1. 01 If you authorize MusicKit but have no active subscription, the app surfaces a non-blocking explainer with a deep-link to the Apple Music app.
  2. 02 Authoring (segments, songs, cues) works without a subscription — only catalog search and playback are gated.
  3. 03 Re-checking subscription status happens on every play attempt; no manual reconciliation required.
3

Run-mode preferences

Settings → Run Mode holds the behaviour settings. Defaults work for most instructors; tune to taste.

  1. 01 Auto-advance cues: ON by default. Cues fire automatically at their pinned offsets.
  2. 02 Keep screen on: prevents auto-lock during Run mode (uses more battery).
  3. 03 Crossfade duration: 0–12s stepper. Controls how long tracks blend into each other.
  4. 04 Transition song duration: how long the transition song plays between tracks — 10 seconds to 2 minutes.
4

Backup & restore

Settings → Storage shows what's on the device — cuesheets, classes, and how much space they take — and lets you export it all to a single file. Your backup, under your control; nothing is uploaded anywhere.

  1. 01 Tap Export — the app discloses exactly what the archive contains, then hands you the iOS share sheet (AirDrop, Save to Files, …).
  2. 02 On a new iPhone, tap Import and pick the file. Choose Merge to append to what's there, or Replace to start from the backup.
  3. 03 Reset all data wipes the device back to a fresh install if you ever want a clean slate.
